Our History

New Vision was founded in 1995 by Rev. Jim Spears. Jim was attending Nazarene Theological Seminary and was approached by Kansas City District Superintendant Keith Wright about the possibility of starting a new church in Raymore, Missouri. At the time, Raymore was a small but rapidly growing suburb with only a handful of churches. Rev. Spears moved into Raymore, gathered a group of motivated Christ-followers, and held the first public worship service on October 16, 1994. At the time, the church was called Raymore Community Church of the Nazarene.

Rev. Spears resigned in 1998 and Rev. Wally Wallentine was called to serve as pastor. Rev. Wallentine changed the name to New Vision Church of the Nazarene and officially re-launched the church by holding a grand-opening worship service at the Raymore Elementary School on April 4, 1999. In September of 2001, the church was able to purchase the building at the corner of MO Highway 58 and Sunrise Drive from the Victory Fellowship Church.

Rev. Wallentine resigned in 2003 and Rev. Jason Matters was called to serve as pastor. Under his leadership, the church continues to build on the foundation of community outreach built by the first two pastors.

Are you new to the area? Or maybe just curious about our church? This is a great starting point for anyone unfamiliar with our church.
We believe that every child can learn about God and can live for God.
